Tärna Vilt

If you want a taste of the mountains then a trip to visit Kent and Anita at Tärna Vilt in Joesjö is a must. This is where local produce is turned into exciting delicacies. The restaurant is found in the large tent shaped building known locally as the Viltkåtan. Try the many smoked and dried reindeer products as well as elk, grouse, chanterelle mushrooms, cloudberries and other local berries. There are also meats from exotic animals like crocodile and kangaroo. Souvas, lightly smoked reindeer meat with a cloudberry and lingonberry sauce is one of the favourite dishes. Tärna Vilt has now expanded to develop various fish products such as cured or warm smoked arctic char. We can really recommend the artic char fish eggs marinated in cognac – an unforgettable experience.

Sæterstad Gård

Sæterstad Gård is located on the shores of Norway’s second largest lake, Lake Røsvatn. It was here that Knut Kastnes and Siri Kobberød started the country’s first arctic charr fish farm. The business is now well known both in Norway and abroad for its excellent products.
The fermented fish or ”Rakfisk” is one of their specialities, not too salty and a perfect red colour. Our Swedish neighbours are conneusseurs when it comes to fermented fish and this particular product has a good reputation with them. Siri and Knut also make a special coffee cheese from goats milk. Local tradition dictates that the white cheese is placed in a cup of coffee, but it can also be used in sallads or on bread with a little honey and wild raspberries. Take a trip to Sæterstad Gård if you want to taste local traditional food.
You can also use Sæterstad Gård as the starting point for a mountain trekk or fishing trip. Like many places along the Krutfjell Road, you will find excellent fishing and well marked trails.

Hotel Børgefjell Vertshus

Hotel Børgefjell Vertshus is beautifully located with splendid views of the mountains and central Hattfjelldal. Festive meals can be ordered for meetings, conferences and other special occasions. The hotel prepares both traditional and modern dishes using local produce, served in pleasant surroundings.

Café Gobiten

If you want a cup of old fashioned, boiled coffee, traditional home made cakes or a simple lunch then Café Godbiten is the perfect choice. In pleasant surroundings in central Hattfjelldal they serve good food to a stream of both locals and passing travellers.
It is of course possible to buy local produce.

Hattfjelldal Grillkiosk

Grillkiosk is one Hatfjelldals most important meeting places. It looks like a typical Norwegian kiosk where you can not only buy the daily paper, tobacco, beverages and sweets but also simple grill food such as hamburgers and hot dogs. But this grill is different as the restaurant serves Byrkije Kjøtt reindeer burgers, lamb kebabs from Krutådal Gård and other local specialities.

Byrkije Kjøtt, Ragnhild Sparrok will tell you about the south sami tradition based on her family costums from Børgefjell Nationalpark.

Laila on Krutådal Gård is taking good care of her lambs!

Anna from Tärna Vilt makes dried meet of reindeer.

Cheese of goat is a speciality from Sæterstad Gård. The taste is especially good - because they have so happy and healthy goats from the Krutfjellet.

Smoked arctic char from Sæterstad Gård is a favorite at Børgefjell Vertshus!
